Pediatric Physiotherapy

Pediatric physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who support children in developing and improving movement, coordination, and physical function through all stages of growth. At our Okotoks clinic, we bring physical therapy into a world of play, using hands-on and play-based methods to assess and treat a wide range of developmental or movement concerns.

During your child’s initial assessment, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history from both you and your child to fully understand your concerns and goals. We focus on creating a welcoming environment that helps your child feel safe, engaged, and supported, so we can work together toward meaningful outcomes.

What Age Range Does Pediatric Physiotherapy Cover?

Pediatric physiotherapy includes children from birth to age 17. However, if your child is typically developing and over 10 years old, we recommend booking under our general physiotherapy services.

What Does Assessment & Treatment Look Like?

Your child’s physiotherapy journey begins with connection. In the assessment, we start by asking you and your child questions to learn more about your history, your goals, and your day-to-day experiences. From there, your physiotherapist will begin observing and engaging with your child through play to assess their movement in a natural, comfortable way.

Treatment is always individualized based on your child’s goals, abilities, and interests. You can expect to receive a home program that integrates therapeutic movement into play wherever possible. When more structured exercises are needed, your physiotherapist will introduce them in a way that feels fun, engaging, and achievable for your child.
