Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

Practitioners trained in shock wave therapy use focused, high-energy sound waves to stimulate tissue repair, relieve pain, and enhance mobility. This non-invasive treatment is often used when other conservative therapies have not resolved chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

How Does ESWT Work?

At our clinic, we use the Swiss DolorClast® method to deliver high-energy radial shock waves through the skin to targeted areas of pain or dysfunction. These sound waves activate the body’s natural healing processes at the site of discomfort.

As a result, shock wave therapy can:

  • Increase local blood circulation

  • Promote new blood vessel formation

  • Improve metabolism in affected tissue

  • Stimulate cell regeneration

  • Help dissolve calcium deposits in tendons

This leads to pain reduction, improved mobility, and accelerated tissue repair.

What Conditions Can It Treat?

Radial shock wave therapy is commonly used to treat:

  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow

  • Shoulder pain

  • Back and neck pain

  • Achilles tendinitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Painful trigger points

  • Heel spurs

  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
